Monarch butterflies visit California's central coast
each year during their migration. From 10,000 to as many as 150,000
Monarchs migrate to Santa Cruz each fall. |
 |
Monarchs spend the spring and summer living in the
valley regions west of the Rocky Mountains, where milkweed - the
only plant a Monarch caterpillar eats - is plentiful. |
 |
Our studio garden seems to attract a few of the
Monarchs as they migrate. It is always a delight to welcome these
magnificent flutters of color as they briefly visit. The Monarchs
are captured in watercolor on 300 lb. D'Arches paper to enjoy year
round. |
